The Best Women’s Outdoor Vest By 5.11 Tactical
Morgan Rogue 02.06.23
I love vests but I always have a hard time finding a good vest that is flexible but can also fit my active, outdoor lifestyle.
The Yulia Vest fits the bill for an outstanding outdoor or range vest. This is not a summer vest. This is definitely a cooler weather vest. I tried to wear this on a hike when it was 90+ degrees out and that was a big mistake. I had to rip it off immediately and put it in my backpack.
Not a problem at all, though! Just something to be aware of that this vest is only for cooler weather.
I finally had an opportunity to wear it in cooler weather during a camping trip. We went out and did some fishing with the fam and tested some gear and wore this vest out. The temperature was around 40s, 50s and along with the sun, the vest was a perfect fit.
I really like that it can be cinched in the middle, so it can be worn a little loose or a little tighter, that’s a nice touch.
The two front top pockets snap together. I would put stickers in there and take them out occasionally for the kids. The other two bottom pockets are deep, zippered pockets. I can put my big iPhone in the pockets and still zip it up. I love pockets that zip.
As a forager, the zipper pockets were also helpful because I can throw some berries or nuts in the pockets, zip it up and keep it secure in the pocket as I go on about my hike or fishing or dealing with my kids. Throw this vest over a long sleeve shirt or the 5.11 Women’s Stratos underlayer and it’s the absolute perfect fall weather attire. I even wore this vest under the Thermees Insulator Jacket and I was nice and toasty.
Layers, layers, layers!
As far as the 5.11 Yulia Vest goes, this is really handy to have while foraging, hiking, camping, hunting, range day or just about any outdoor event. Just as long as it’s 70 degrees F and below.
