EDC Gear Review: The 5. 11 Tactical LV10 Sling Pack

I’ve been really into sling packs and fanny packs lately. Anything that can offer me instant access when I need it, but be out of the way when I don’t, is my kind of pack.
The 5.11 Tactical LV10 Sling Pack 2.0 13L has been new EDC pack for almost 6 months. I’ve really enjoyed using it for my everyday needs. Whether it was going to the zoo or just walking around the neighborhood, it carried everything I could want or need on a day-to-day basis.
Outside of the standard sling strap, it also comes with a sternum strap. Being a sling pack, I did not like the sternum strap option at all because I want quick access to my things and the sternum strap was one more strap I would have to unbuckle before swinging the back around to the front to access my things. I’m sure there is a circumstance or situation or person where the sternum strap is needed and/or wanted, but personally, this was a feature I don’t forsee using.
Normally, I’m a big fan of padded straps, but this pad is a bit too thick in diameter for my personal liking. I’m a petite woman with a small bust and the pad either lays flat on my chest over my bust or it’s above them. Either way, it eventually kind of cuts off the circulation right around that area and when I take it off, it’s a bit numb and a little painful.
Despite this, I still really love the sling pack.
It has pockets galore and they’re huge! When you swing it over, you can immediately access a pocket up top. I put things like chapstick, wallet, eyeglass cleaner, lighter, things like that. The pocket just below it is for larger things like snacks, extra clothes for kids, external battery bank and whatever else I can think of.
There’s a pocket in the back that’s up against your body which has a spot for concealed carrying. I really like this setup because I can place my holster inside of the velcro retention straps, secure it down and I know that between the secured velcro (which is REALLY tough to get off) and my holster, it’s secure inside of that pouch that’s also up against my body. It’s very well designed.
There are grab handles everywhere. On both sides and on top I can use a grab handle to carry it around. I was genuinely excited when I saw so many grab handles. It’s like, why don’t all bags have as many grab handles as this sling pack does?
Anyway, moving on from the grab handles, I was using this for a while before I noticed the expandable water bottle pouch. In fact, the one thing that I thought was missing was a water bottle pouch. But when I was playing around with it one day, bam, there it was! And now, my life is complete. The water bottle is actually very difficult to get out of the pouch so I wasn’t worried at all about it falling out.
In addition, the sling pack has several compression straps all around the bag to put whatever you want on the outside.
Overall, the 5.11 Tactical LV10 Sling Pack 2.0 13L is a winner if you’re looking for a modest, gray man pack to carry around with you for your everyday gear.
