Father’s Day Suggestions From The OutdoorHub Staff

Father’s Day is coming up, and we here at OutdoorHub have some suggestions of ways to make your old man feel appreciated.  It doesn’t always have to be some material gift.  For the fathers out there that either have all the outdoor gear they could ever use already or those who don’t get much enjoyment from material goods, you can always take them on an outdoor experience.  Often, the gift of time spent together is the best way to show someone you care about them.  Without further ado, here are the staff’s top picks of ways to celebrate Dad this year:

Luke C.:

“Is your dad one of those guys who always likes to tell stories about his outdoor adventures but has never been able to show you properly? Get him a GoPro! GoPro’s are durable, capable of being waterproofed, and can mount to virtually anything so your dad can capture his best swing at the golf course, sick jumps on the slopes, or even just cruising on his bike on the open road. ”

Paul B.:

“If you are like me and grew up fishing on the bank of a river with your Dad, now is the time to bring back the chairs, tackle, and life stories. He’ll appreciate the time and memories made.”

Fishing with Dad is the best. Even this squirrel agrees.

Eugene L.:

“If your dad likes to spend anytime outdoors in the sun look into getting him a quality long sleeve sunshirt. Easier than sunblock and great for wicking away sweat, keep your old man healthy for the long run.”

Editor’s note:  I highly recommend FORLOH’s Insect Shield UPF Long Sleeve Shirt.  I am in the process of a full review of these shirts and they are outstanding.  100% American-Made, incredibly breathable, and they keep the sun and the biting bugs off and away from your skin.

Nicolas L.:

“As a dad who loves the outdoors but lives in the city, a do-it-all pair of sunglasses would be very useful. The Magpul Explorer XL sunglasses are some of my favorites. The bronze lenses work well for driving, as well as shooting and hunting. They’re also very comfortable while wearing ear pro and don’t give me headaches.”

Taylor H.:

“Like most Dads they probably have a set of pliers or a pocket knife thats a little long in the tooth. Leatherman’s are lightweight and heavy duty. They’re great for cutting, torquing, and all sorts of repairs. The website also has a custom shop for gift engravings. A nice Skeletool will get used more than any neck tie.”

Rusty S.:

“If your old man still likes to get out and do some shooting, works with heavy equipment or power tools, or still likes to go to metal concerts, consider helping him protect what little hearing he has left.  An excellent pair of digital in-ear or over-the ear hearing protection will go a long way towards helping him not answer “WHAT?” to everything.  As someone who wears earpro nearly every day at work, I recommend an in-ear unit like AXIL Xcor’s or an utra-comfortable pair of MSA Sordins with gel ear cups for Dad’s sake.”

All of us at OutdoorHub hope this list helps you think of ideas and ways to honor Dad this Father’s Day-especially if he helped foster a love of the outdoors in your family.
