The Second Edition: Protect Report from Costa Sunglasses
Eugene L. 12.15.23
Costa Sunglasses has spent its four decades of existence with the mission to protect the waters we all rely on and enjoy. As a nice cherry on top of its 40th anniversary year, Costa has proudly released its Second Edition: Protect Report. The report is a celebration of the fruits of their labors for the years 2021 and 2022. Costa has taken many steps towards a sustainable and environmentally conscious model, from responsibly made gear, or its Kick Plastic® and OneCoast initiatives. They have worked hard to protect our waterways. Add to that the strong partnerships with mission-aligned conservation organizations and community outreach, Costa continues to lead the charge in protecting the waterways and the people who live around them.

“We recognize the important role businesses can play in protecting and preserving our natural resources for future generations, and we take that responsibility to heart,” said Jed Larkin, Costa Brand Director. “We pride ourselves on working just as hard to protect our watery world as we do to discover new ways to experience it, and much like the first edition, this report takes that work and puts it into writing.”
Featured in Costa’s Second Edition: Protect Report is the Marlin Fly Project which resulted in 15 successful satellite tagging of Striped Marlin. On top of those many more Striped Marlin were spaghetti tagged, with all of these marlin were caught on fly tackle. Also featured in the report is Costa’s work with Bureo to release a second series of performance frames in its Untangled™ Collection. These new frames are made from the NetPlus material, which is made of 97% recycled fishing nets. Costa has also worked hard on the human side of things in 2021 and 2022, supporting over 1000 community activations and using its resources to raise awareness such as Costa Films which produced 25+ films during that timeframe.
