The Milha Lite Skiff – A Kayak Jon Boat Hybrid
Eugene L. 02.26.24
Straight from Brazil is a new interesting boat that TBNation is bringing stateside, the new Milha Nautica Lite Skiff. Showing it off NOEoutdoors Fishing Expo this weekend Tiny Boat Nation has the Milha Lite Skiff, a fully rotomolded boat, built down in Brazil. While these have been around for a bit down there they are just now making it up to the US. This boat is a hybrid of sorts, built out of rotomolded plastic like a kayak, but has the layout of a bass boat, in an almost jon boat shaped package. This boat is durable like a kayak, can go on plane like a regular boat, and has an aluminum transom that is capable of officially handling a 6HP outboard. All the while the Lite Skiff stays compact and portable, it comes in at just 12 foot 8 inches long, with a beam of 42 inches, and weighs only 175 pounds. So you can load it up in a truck bed or roof rack relatively easily.
The Milha Lite Skiff comes with 4 molded-in hatches, 3 of which have channels around them to keep water out. The 4th hatch near the transom is self-bailing and lets water flow out into the sub-deck and out the scupper holes. So no worries about a bilge pump in this little skiff. Additionally, the skiff comes with 5 T-tracks built in for mounting accessories and electronics as well as vertical rod holders molded into the deck of the skiff. Every one of these skiffs are US Coast Guard-rated and have USCG-regulation foam floating in the hull. MSRP for the skiff comes in at $3499.
