[NRAAM 2024] Shield Arms ROC – Revolver Optics Conversion
Eugene L. 05.20.24
For the 2024 NRA Annual Meeting Shield Arms has brought out a new way to easily mount red dot optics to non-optics-ready Smith & Wesson Model 442 J-frame revolvers. The new Shield Arms ROC – Revolver Optics Conversion is a no-mill option that can easily bolted onto your small frame revolver to make a mounting platform for a small pistol red dot. Mounting to the side of the revolver it extends over the top of the revolver with a very flush optics mounting point. All the while it has a smaller profile that does not impede cylinder access at all. While built specifically for the Smith & Wesson Model 442 J-frame revolvers with this first iteration it could possibly fit other S&W small-frame revolvers. Additionally, there are future plans for expanding the ROC line depending on consumer demand.
Build wise the ROC is precision machined from billet aluminum which is then hard coat anodized for a durable finish. The mount of the Shield Arms ROCĀ attaches to your revolver with the factory screws or you can use titanium replacement screws made by Shield Arms. For mounting the optic itself the Shield Arms ROC comes with interchangeable optics plates for the Shield RMSC and Trijicon RMRcc footprints. A holster option for carrying a Smith & Wesson Model 442 J-frame revolver with an ROC Revolver Optics Conversion is the PHLster City Special Kydex holster.
