While at NRAAM 2024 in Dallas, I stopped by the Kimber booth and two of the new models they had on display is an update to their popular R7 Mako. The new Tactical models add additional features customers have asked for, giving fans of the ever-growing double stack polymer micro compact market, even more choices.

Available in either Optics Ready (OR) or Optics Installed (OI) SKUs, these new R7 Mako Tactical models add more aggresive grip texture, threaded barrels, and the aforementioned optics cuts.
The new R7 Mako™ Tactical from Kimber is a pistol built to deliver all the features for the modern day EDC firearms owner. The polymer frame features molded stippling for a sure grip in all conditions and makes the pistol lightweight (19.5 ounces empty). Measuring a mere 1 inch wide, the R7 Mako Tactical delivers 16 rounds of total capacity (15+1) and extends the grip to accommodate the largest of hands. The low-tilt, 3.37, stainless-steel barrel mitigates recoil. The R7 Mako Tactical comes in two models: Optics Ready and Optics Installed. Featuring a threaded barrel for suppressors and a picatinny rail for lights, the new R7 Mako Tactical comes with everything you need to be ready for any situation.

The R7 Mako Tactical OR carries an MSRP of $734 and the OI MSRP $951 which seems just about right with the included Holosun 407K that I found on Primary Arms for $224. It appears both models ship with two 15 rd magazines and an IWB holster from Mission First Tactical, making this a concealed carry kit that is ready to go with some ammo and some practice.
