Free Fishing Weekend Coming Up in Maine

A free fishing weekend is just ahead for everyone in the State of Maine.
On June 2 & 3, any person may fish in the state of Maine without a license, except for those few who have had their license suspended or revoked. All other rules and regulations, including bag and possession limits, do apply.
“It’s our hope that families would take advantage of this weekend, and take advantage of what Maine has to offer,” said Andrea Erskine, Deputy Commissioner of the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife. “We are looking for future anglers to carry on the tradition.”
With a free fishing weekend, anglers in Maine will have a lot to fish for. The Department stocks more than 1 million fish each year. And they’ll have a lot of room to do it – Maine has more than 30-thousand miles of streams and rivers, and more than 3-thousand lakes and ponds. That gives plenty of room to roam for more than 21 species of freshwater game fish managed by the Department.
Again, Saturday June 2, and Sunday June 3, are the free fishing days – so get out and enjoy Maine waters!
