Video: Blue Shark Eats Giant Squid

Giant squid (Architeuthis) are some of the rarest and most fascinating creatures in the sea. In fact, they are so rare that living giant squid have only been captured twice on camera. While the giant squid in this video had already been killed (most likely by its only natural predator, the sperm whale), it is still amazing footage.

The ~10′ squid was spotted off the coast of Australia by a fishing boat, and it appears to have been recently killed due to the lack of decomposition. What’s even more incredible is the 8′ blue shark that can be seen scavenging the carcass.
