Spring Chinook to Close on Oregon’s Lookingglass Creek June 12

The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife announced today that the fishing season for spring chinook salmon on Lookingglass Creek will close effective 12:01 a.m. on June 12, 2012.
For the second time in a decade, Lookingglass Creek, a tributary to the Grande Ronde River, was opened to fishing for hatchery spring chinook on Saturday, May 26. The fishery is being closed because the harvest quota is close to being met.
According to Tim Bailey, ODFW district fish biologist, approximately 300 adult spring chinook will have been harvested by the closure.
“Anglers have had a very successful season on Lookingglass Creek, leading to a relatively short two and a half week season” Bailey said.
