Celebrate the Fourth of July at Barr Lake State Park

BRIGHTON, Colo. – Barr Lake State Park, an oasis on the prairie, is hosting a blast of activities for the whole family to experience together this Fourth of July weekend. Pack a picnic, explore the Barr Lake Nature Center, take a stroll, walk the dog, peddle a bike, ride your horse, paddle the canoe, cast your fishing rod, spot birds and wildlife, and spend the day enjoying the great outdoors. You can also experience solitude, cherish the quiet, and behold brilliant sunsets at Barr Lake.

Pedal boat rental:
Experience the lake in a whole new way by renting one of our new pedal boats for only $9 an hour (one hour minimum), $30 half-day (4 hours) or $60 for a full day (8 hours). Boats are available on a first come, first served basis. Available 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sign up at the Nature Center. These three boats were generously donated to the park by the Friends of Barr Lake.
Eagle Express Ride:
Reserve your seat to great wildlife watching opportunities aboard our universally accessible, motorized Eagle Express! While your destination is the bald eagle nest-viewing site and the Heron Rookery at mile marker three, you never know what will fly, crawl, or gallop past the Eagle Express on the way there! Plan to be “All Aboard” for a single trip on Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon, Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 a.m. to noon. The Eagle Express holds up to 13 passengers, so make your reservation by calling the Barr Lake Nature Center at (303) 659-6005.
Bird Walk:
Grab your binoculars and field guide, or check out a loaner set of ours, and enjoy an exciting morning of birding on Saturday, July 2, beginning at 9 a.m. Park naturalists Lee and Marilyn will enthusiastically introduce birders of all ability levels to Barr Lake’s feathered residents and migrants.
