Orem, UT – Gold Tip shooters again landed a decisive victory at the recent Metropolis, IL ASA Pro/Am (6/29-7/1), with Levi Morgan and Tim Gillingham taking first and second place, respectively, in the Men’s Pro Division. At the outdoor 3-D event, Pro Division contestants shoot two rounds of twenty targets from unknown distances that range from 6 yards to over 50 yards. The top five Pro archers with the highest scores from the first two rounds qualify for the “Shoot Down” round where an additional five targets are shot to determine the overall champion.
Morgan jumped out to a strong lead on day one and held it throughout day two. Consistent shooting and few mistakes gave Morgan a 12 point lead heading into the shoot-off on the final day; ultimately holding off the rest of pack and maintaining his lead to win the Pro Division.
“Typically, I go into these shoots planning to be cautious and consistent, but with only 6 out of the 7 total ASA tournaments counting toward Shooter of the Year, and only two left on the schedule, I knew I had a score I could throw out,” said Morgan. “I went into Metropolis planning to be aggressive. It would either go really well or really bad. In the end, it paid off.”
Veteran pro, Tim Gillingham, again found himself battling his way back into the second place position, behind fellow Gold Tip shooter, Levi Morgan. Both Morgan and Gillingham were shooting the Gold Tip Triple X Pro.
