Remarkable Preparation Scissors Heads “New for 2012” Dr. Slick Items

BELGRADE, Mont. – An 8.5-inch preparation scissors with the ability to cut heavy leather, sheets of foam, rubber, Antron®, Darlon, glo bug yarn, braid, tubing, chain, wire or anything else you can bring to a tying bench heads the list of New for 2012 products from Dr. Slick Instruments for Anglers.
Referred to as the “Mother of All Scissors” by the Dr. Slick designers, the product has been developed with “exceptionally heavy well balanced blades with large serrations and a wire cutter for tackling the nastiest stuff in Fly Tying Town as well as precision tips for cutting fine thread and materials,” according to Dr. Slick.
Preparation Scissors are priced at $39.
Landing nets – can’t live with ’em, can’t live without ’em – have at last met their match with the NetMag net holder.
Decidedly different from other magnetic net holders, the Dr. Slick NetMag features a powerful magnet along with a full swivel coiled lanyard that extends from 20- to 48-inches. A sturdy carabiner attaches to the back of an angler’s vest or necklace, and the Net Mag easily converts from net handle up to net handle down position based on angler’s preference. A quick tug releases the net from the magnet holder and when reattaching, a quick wave in the vicinity and – click – you’re locked back in,” said Dr. Slick president Steve Fournier.
The NetMag also works with pliers or other tools.
NetMags are priced at $19.
Other new Dr. Slick products include:
- A 6-inch comb and brush Dubbing Tool that combines Velcro® with a brass brush to create a perfect bead of dubbing when raked through dubbing materials. $12.
- A 6-inch stainless steel Whip Finisher with a built-in half hitch tool to give flies a professional appearance. $9.50.
- The FT, a 4-inch long magnetic fly threader that will accept hooks #4 to #24. The threader features three magnetized slots that hold and perfectly align the fly for easy threading of tippet through uniquely designed “funnels.” (Made in the U.S by EYETIE). $25.
Dr. Slick tools that were markedly improved for 2012 include both the 4-inch and 6-inch Whip Finishers which now have built-in half hitch tools; and the 2-inch Rotary Hackle Pliers, now with built-in half hitch tools. “The Rotary hackle pliers are great for tying parachute patterns,” said Fournier.
With the addition of the Preparation Scissors, Dubbing Tool, Whip Finisher, NetMag, and Fly Threader, Dr. Slick now has nearly 160 models, styles and sizes of fly-tying and fishing scissors; plus pliers, leader nippers, clamps, necklaces and other tools.
