Video: How to Start a Fire with a Guitar Pick

It’s time to set your matches aside, this neat tip from survival expert Creek Stewart will teach you in a few simple steps how to start fires with a guitar pick.

As it turns out, guitar picks made of celluloid are highly flammable and can be shaved to provide fire starting material. Since picks are small, cheap, and easy to store, this makes them ideal for building emergency fires.

Black Scout Survival demonstrates in the video below how a celluloid pick can be used to start a fire. Notice how quickly the pick burns up and then dies down. While it may not replace your current fire starting method, it is certainly a neat trick to know.
