The Badlands are treacherous, vast and full of big deer – a perfect recipe for Pure Hunting! Sportsman Channel, the leader in outdoor TV for the American sportsman, is taking viewers on an epic spot and stalk archery hunt through the Badlands of South Dakota for mule deer. Hunting mule deer in a tree stand is difficult enough, but this spot and stalk hunt will keep “mule deer junkies” on the edge of their seats and hoping for more. Join Willi Schmidt, Host of Pure Hunting as he scales the Badlands and makes the MOST of his time in South Dakota! Don’t miss Pure Hunting on Wednesday, May 2 at 8 p.m. EST.
The Badlands are full of big mule deer and whitetail bucks. Schmidt sought out the advice of guide, Jim Riley on where to track and locate the areas biggest bucks. The “insiders” knowledge proved to be useful as Schmidt glasses and spots several BIG “mulies” and whitetail bucks in the area. The primary challenge is to successfully spot and stalk a large buck with a bow – unguided. After many encounters with several big bucks, Schmidt finally makes the most of his last day and connects on a “massive” buck.
“It came down to the 11th hour and I finally got the shot on a big muley that I’d been working for all week. ,” said Willi Schmidt, Host of Pure Hunting. “Chasing deer through those mazes of valleys and draws is one of the biggest challenges I’ve ever faced as a spot-and-stalk bow hunter. The experience was truly memorable, and one that definitely earned the right to be called Pure Hunting!”
