Results for the Dixon, Illinois Cabela’s King Kat $10,000 One-Day Super Event

This past Saturday June 9th,  the Cabela’s King Kat Tournament Trail hit the waters of the Rock River at Dixon, Illinois for a $10,000.00 One-Day Super Event. In the event over 500 spectators watched as over 150 top anglers from 8 different states were competing not only for the $10,000.00 in cash and prizes, but the opportunity to qualify for the 2012 Cabela’s King Kat Classic. This year’s Cabela’s King Kat Classic will be held on the Alabama River at Selma, Alabama  September 27/28/29, 2012.

Results for the Top 5 Teams

Taking first place was the Rock Falls, Illinois team of Ray and Bruce Sanders weighing in 36.09 pounds and earning $4,400.00. Ray and Bruce were fishing south of Prophetstown targeting 10-14 feet of water using bluegill to catch 8 fish for the day.

In second place was the Dixon, Illinois team of Michael and Melissa Thomas with a weight of 28.03 pounds and earning $2,000.00. Michael and Melissa also took big fish of the event with a 23.81 pound flathead caught on goldfish around 2:00PM which gave the team an additional $1,360.00. The team was fishing near Erie in 8-11 feet of water using creek chubs to catch most of their other fish.

Third place went to Bobby Lee of Dahinda, Illinois and Zac Sharp of Erie, Illinois weighing in 25.88 pounds and earning $1,200.00. Bobby and Zac were fishing below the Sterling Dam in 6 feet of water using bullheads to catch 3 fish for the day.

The Erie, Illinois team of Nick Stern and Jesse Ryan took fourth place with a weight of 23.63 pounds earning $1,000.00. Nick and Jesse were fishing below Erie anywhere from 6 inches to 12 feet of water using shad and creek chubs to catch 15 catfish for the day.

Fifth place went to the Leclaire, Iowa team of Dave Melchert and Mike Presson weighing in 23.48 pounds and earning $800.00. Dave and Mike were fishing near the Milan Dam in 2-6 feet of water using shad guts to catch 15 fish for the day.
