2013 International Custom Rod Building Exposition Nears Sell-Out

The world’s largest event for custom rod builders is enjoying brisk booth sales and at a rate that puts it on track for a complete sell-out prior to Thanksgiving. “We always sell out,” said event owner Tom Kirkman, “But rarely so early. We generally have booths available through the first of January. That won’t happen this year. I expect to sell out before the end of November.”
According to Kirkman, roughly 70 of the available 100 booths had already been sold as of August 18th, putting the Expo on track for its largest ever exhibitor participation.
The “Expo” as the event has come to be known, is now in its tenth year and has grown steadily and surely each and every year since its inception. Although aimed primarily at the world’s custom rod builders, it has become increasingly popular with general interest fishermen and tackle company personnel who attend in order to garner new ideas for their own commercial product lines. “All the major innovations you see in the general tackle industry came from the custom market originally. The ideas and trends you’ll see at the Expo in 2013, will be the hot items that most tackle companies will market in 2014,” said Kirkman.
