Pearl Izumi, a worldwide leading manufacture of run, bike and triathlon apparel and shoes, today announced that rising star triathletes Jesse Thomas and Angela Naeth have signed on for an additional three years as Pearl Izumi sponsored athletes. In addition, Pearl Izumi has signed Magali Tisseyre for a two-year contract, and re-signed Flora Duffy and Tim DeBoom for the 2013 season.
“We are excited to keep such an amazing nucleus of athletes to represent the brand and help us continue developing products in this category. Cam Dye, Angela Naeth and Jesse Thomas are world-class athletes and have really become the core of this team — we are thrilled they continue to represent our brand,” said Geoff Shaffer, Global Marketing Director for Pearl Izumi. “When we began to focus heavily on Tri apparel and footwear, we worked closely with Tim DeBoom who has since helped develop the team program, contribute to product development and implement testing with our athletes. He has played an integral role in taking our tri athletes and apparel to the next level.”
Along with 2012 Pearl standouts Jesse Thomas, Angela Naeth, and Tim DeBoom, newcomer Magali Tisseyre is a world-class athlete that was introduced to the brand by parent company Shimano in 2012, and has since visited the Pearl offices to meet the product development team and get custom sized for her 2013 race kits.
ITU specialist Flora Duffy is coming off an Olympic year while completing her education in June. As a member of the 2012 Pearl Tri team, she will continue to focus on ITU distance races and also begin to compete in some non drafting Olympic distance races this 2013 season.
Similar to the 2012 Pearl Tri team assisting in development and testing of aero fabrics in the San Diego wind tunnel, the 2013 tri team will be participating in product testing and development on behalf of Pearl sponsor LYCRA SPORT. LYCRA SPORT create performance fabrics that combine stretch fiber technology designed to specifically support athletes in their various active endeavors.
