Video: Is This 20-foot Great White Shark the Largest Ever Recorded?
OutdoorHub Reporters 06.10.15
Meet Deep Blue, a massive 20-foot female great white shark that experts believe is one of the largest ever recorded on video. Twice the size of a normal shark, this monstrous predator is estimated to be 50 years old and bears battle scars from half a century of fighting. Few other sharks are willing to take her on now, though, and only the foolish—or very brave—are willing to get close to this behemoth. With a shark that big, even a metal cage feels like inadequate protection. Yet researcher Mauricio Hoyos Padilla and his fellow divers braved the waters in order to find her.
“I give you the biggest white shark ever seen in front of the cages in Guadalupe Island….DEEP BLUE!!!” Hoyos posted to Facebook, along with a recently released video of the shark.
If the shark appears especially hungry, it might be because it was eating for two. At the time of the filming, the shark was pregnant, which greatly added to its already impressive bulk. The video below gives the best comparison of her size against a human diver.

Hoyos was one of researchers that initially tagged and documented the shark in 2013 for Discovery. You can see an additional clip of Deep Blue below:
