RS Regulate Unveils First Trijicon MRO Mount for AK Rifles

At last week’s Big 3 East fall event, RS Regulate unveiled its new AKMT mount for the Trijicon MRO.

The AKMT is the first and only mount designed specifically to allow a shooter to attach Trijicon’s new red dot sight to AK-pattern rifles and pistols equipped with side rails.

The prototype AKMT seen here is mounted on an RS AK-302 lower.

The AKMT attaches to RS Regulate’s AK-300 series of lower mounts, allowing the user to place the optic at their desired front-to-back position. The AKMT upper can also placed in an exact over-bore position using a lower’s 0.25 inches of side-to-side adjustment. It will weigh in at less than one ounce.

The low height of the AKMT allows the shooter to use the MRO while maintaining a comfortable cheekweld.

Like all other RS Regulate optic mount components, the AKMT will be made of 6061-T6 aluminum and hardcoat anodized. It will sell for around $70 and should be shipping to distributors in a month.

The MRO dot will not cowitness with AK iron sights due to the optic’s overall height. Despite this, when paired with the AKMT I found the MRO to sit low enough on the gun to facilitate fast and accurate shots while maintaining a comfortable cheekweld. The MRO’s wide field of view and long battery life make it a perfect choice for shooters looking for a fast, light optic for their AK.

I've been a history and gun enthusiast since I was a kid. I love to shoot just about anything, from silenced bolt-action .22s to fully automatic heavy machine guns, and I love even more when I get to write about them. My main interests are modern small arms and the military small arms of World War II and prior conflicts, with a particular focus on Russian and Finnish firearms. Reading about guns like the Mosin-Nagant rifle in books and on the internet got me interested in collecting, shooting, and writing about them, and I hope to do the same for others through my work.
