This may look like some type of witchcraft, but before you start shrieking loud enough to scare an entire heard of elk, allow for this much simpler explanation: avalanche

We’ve shown you how animals in the woods can be crushed by falling trees, but it looks like this elk got swallowed up in an avalanche and met a similar unfortunate demise:
