Dick’s Sporting Goods Says All ‘Assault-Style Rifles’ Pulled From Shelves Will Be Destroyed

Remember the “assault-style rifles” Dick’s Sporting Goods pulled off their shelves?
Well, one of the biggest questions surrounding that decision was what they would do with the unsold firearms. We now know the answer, but it will likely upset a lot of people.
Normally, a retailer would simply return unsold items to the manufacturer. However in this case, Dick’s Sporting Goods has decided to take more aggressive measures. . .
“We are in the process of destroying all firearms and accessories that are no longer for sale as a result of our February 28th policy change,” a spokeswoman reportedly told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “We are destroying the firearms in accordance with federal guidelines and regulations.”
The company says they are destroying the so-called assault-style rifles at their distribution centers, and the parts are to be sent to a salvage company where they will be recycled.
Dick’s is currently dealing with at least one law suit over the new age restrictions on firearm purchases.
