If you follow along on social media, Josh and Sarah Bowmar just recently purchased a new boat for the summer, and have already taken down an Ohio bowfishing state record!
Josh and Sarah have been taking full advantage of their new Tracker Grizzly 2072, taking it out to cast for crappie and for sweet summertime cruises, but they’ve recently had really great success bowfishing around the lakes in their hometown.
On May 21, the couple took the boat out for a typical afternoon cruise, when Sarah spotted something big swimming in the water. Without giving away too much, the YouTube video below picks up just after Josh placed his arrow into a massive bigmouth buffalo:
Later, Josh shared the following post to the Instagram page he shares with his wife, Sarah:
Currently, the Ohio bowfishing record for buffalo is held by Brent McGlone, who shot a 40.8-pound fish in Lake Erie on October 11, 2013. Bigmouth buffalo are often confused for common carp, however the two species are not closely related.
What an awesome fish, and a great story to go along with it! Congrats on the new state record Josh, and props to your spotter for seeing the fish in the first place!
