No doubt, you’ve likely heard about the polar vortex that’s brought brutally cold temperatures to the (already) subzero midwest. Well, WGN-TV Chief Meteorologist Tom Skilling took this video at 8 in the morning yesterday from a balcony in Chicago’s North Side, and it will likely make you cold just watching!
Skilling described the scene, saying “Lake Michigan has taken on the appearance of ‘a boiling cauldron’ as -20 degree air makes contact with the water which sits just above the freezing level.”
Here’s the video:
If you’re watching this video from a warmer climate, I envy you. And to all my fellow Midwesterners reading this, breathe. This cold snap is promising to let up in the next couple of days, so in the mean time, hunker down, wrap yourselves in all the blankets and try to stay warm!
Speaking of crazy weather over Lake Michigan, remember when a crew member aboard a Lake Michigan freighter captured an insane image of a lightning bolt striking?
