[ATA Show 2020] Tethrd Phantom – Saddling a Tree like a Ghost Hunter
Adam Scepaniak 01.10.20
Tethrd has their new “Phantom” saddle on display at the ATA Show affording archers a new option to climbing a tree and hunting their choice in wild game. Tree saddles might be a new concept to hunting for many archers, including myself, but we are here to tell you that Tethrd is defining and molding that niche industry as we speak. They took their previous model of a tree saddle from 2019, the Mantis, and re-engineered it to be even better as we kick in the front door of 2020.
The Phantom offers more of a curvature in its design so it is more contouring to your buttocks; thus, it is more comfortable when you are hanging out in a tree all day. The Phantom is also slightly more rigid (not stiff), but just more firm to the point where it will not slide, lay flat, or fold over on you while you are using it. Some of the other specifications for the “Phantom” can be read below as presented by Tethrd:
- World’s Lightest, Most Efficient Elevated Hunting System
- Patent Pending “Utili-Bridge” with 30″ of On-the-Fly Adjustability
- Re-Engineered Lineman Loops to make them more User Friendly & Stronger than Ever
- Completely Re-Designed & Patent Pending Saddle Chassis Construction to Eliminate Sizing Problems
- One-Size-Fits-Most option fits Waist Sizes from 28″ – 40″
The Tethrd “Phantom” tree saddle is set to become available and ship out to consumers by the end of February; potentially sooner on the optimistic side of projections. For people wanting to give this a shot, there are 4 essential things that you are going to need to get up in a tree through the Tethrd elevated hunting system: saddle, platform, tether, and a lineman belt. The pricing for all of those individually can be read below:
- Phantom Tree Saddle – $249.99
- Predator Platform – $179.99
- Tree Tether – $54.99
- Lineman Belt – $59.99
Tethrd does offer Starter Kits and Build-your-Own Kits where through buying in bulk you can get a little bit of savings. The Mantis saddle has been warmly welcomed and adopted by many hunters, and Tethrd hopes that the Phantom will own grow that pool of saddle-hunter believers as well. They share this company statement on their website:
“The Tethrd Team has created the ultimate tree saddle hunting setup. The Mantis Saddle and Predator Platform system is truly the culmination of ideas & input from thousands of dedicated tree saddle hunting fanatics around the world. We can’t wait to get Tethrd saddle hunting gear in your dirty, calloused hands!
With your help, the team has done something incredible. We’ve designed, engineered, and built the world’s lightest saddle hunting system. The Predator Platform, at approximately 3 lbs, gives saddle hunters the ability to shoot 360 degrees in an ultra-compact and user friendly setup. The Mantis Saddle at a mind-bending weight of barely 1 lb allows you to go deeper and further than anyone else. All unnecessary weight and bulk have been eliminated.“
So while saddle hunting might be a foreign idea to some, the notion of being able to shoot 360 degrees in your favorite hunting tree with no blind spots has to sound appealing, right? Would you be willing to saddle up to a tree hunting using a Tethrd Phantom? Let us know all of your thoughts in the Comments below! We always appreciate your feedback.
