ICAST 2020 Remains ‘On Schedule’ for July
OutdoorHub Editor: Keenan Crow 04.03.20
It seems like forever ago, but it was less than a month now when we reported the cancellation of the NRA Annual Meeting and the suspension of all public gatherings at FLW tournaments. At the time, all events encouraging large crowds appeared in serious jeopardy, and the waters still remain pretty murky. Despite that, ICAST 2020 appears – for now – on schedule for July 14 – 17 in Orlando, Florida.
The ICAST website provides answers to any/all questions you might have about the show; including their cancellation policy, how the ASA and the ICAST team will keep people safe if/when restrictions get lifted in time, and more.
Will there be a trade show in July?
“As of today, ICAST is open for business and will go on as planned July 14-17, in Orlando, Fla. The New Product Showcase, On the Water, the State of the Industry Breakfast and all the events you’ve come to expect from ICAST will go on as always. We are monitoring the situation every day and working closely with the Orange County Convention Center, Freeman and all our show vendors.”
What will ASA and the ICAST team do to keep people safe?
“First and foremost, our concern is for the health and wellbeing of you, our members and your families, as well as our staff and their families. The Orange County Convention Center has numerous health and safety precautions in place that are continually updated based on mandates from the state of Florida. We will continue to follow the CDC’s guidelines as well as the mandates set by Florida and Orange County.”
If I cancel my attendance at the show, will my registration fee be refunded?
“In the event that ICAST is officially canceled, all attendees’ registration fees will be refunded. Otherwise, our policy states that if you cancel your registration, your fees are not refundable.”
This will obviously be a very fluid situation going forward, so we will keep an eye on it and bring you any updates as they come in. If the show is able to press forward, it will be interesting to see how the current times effect attendance numbers. I imagine it will be some time before the majority of people feel comfortable traveling again, but lets just hope we can all make it Orlando in July to talk some fishing and look back on all this like a bad sci-fi movie!
