This Custom Hunting Van Conversion is the ‘Batmobile’ of Bowhunting

Have you ever wanted to sell everything you own – except your hunting gear of course – and live your life out on the road? I’d be lying if I said I’ve never thought about it, and it’s usually right around hunting season that I start dreaming about traveling to different states and living the van life for a little while. Just me, my bow, and the open road.
If you’re going to follow this dream, however, you’re going to need a specialized vehicle to keep all of your hunting equipment neat and organized. A hunting ‘Batmobile’ if you will..
The internet is full of videos showing old vans being converted to customized hunting rigs, but leave it to the boys from The Hunting Public to really figure out the ultimate design for ample storage, organization and comfort! To accomplish this, Sam Soholt completely gutted a Chevy Express 3500, converted it to a 4×4 and added everything necessary for a traveling bowhunter living life on the road and hunting wherever his tags steer him.
Well, what do you think? Did that fan your flames for living the van life?
It’s nothing extravagant, but there’s no question you could live and hunt out of that thing for an extended period of time. And if you start to feel claustrophobic or restricted, just head out into the outdoors! That’s the whole idea behind this hunting closet on wheels, right?
My favorite feature on this rig is the Decked slide-out weapons rack for storing either your bow or guns. I know Sam said he was inspired by ‘The Boondock Saints’ when he installed this portion of the van, but I also like to think John Wick would approve of this design, as well.
If you want to watch Sam’s build from the very beginning, check out his videos on YouTube.
Let us know what you think of Sam’s hunting van, and if you have your own hunting rig setup, please tell us about it or share any photos you might have. We love to see what ideas other hunters have come up with before, and who knows, maybe we’ll dive into our own build one of these days..
