Shimano came to ICAST this year ready with the all-new Stradic FM spinning reel, the winner of the New Freshwater Fishing Reel division of the New Product Showcase at ICAST. The newest addition to Shimano’s core lineup of freshwater-sized spinning reels, the new Stradic FM is a showcase of Shimano’s reel technologies. The new reel is a combination of technologies passed down from the flagship spinning reels and a couple of new technologies. The new FM design of the Stradic reel adds InfinityXross tech for better gear durability and meshing for a smoother feel. The body and gearing for the FM utilizes Shimano’s famous cold-forged Hagane system for superior strength and refinement. Other premium features added to the new reel include InfinityDrive, Duracross Drag system, Shimano’s X-Protect water-repellent coating, and the new Anti-Twist Fin.
