[ICAST 2024] Ugly Stik GX2 ICAST Best of Category for Freshwater Rod
Eugene L. 07.19.24
The new Ugly Stik GX2 continues the Ugly Stik legacy as America’s favorite fishing rod. Winner of the Best of Category Freshwater Fishing Rod, the revamped GX2 series of fishing rods has been reworked for a modern cosmetic look and loaded with some new features to make for an even stronger and more sensitive rod than the original GX2 rods. Building upon the long-standing reputation of Ugly Stik the new GX2 now comes with improved one-piece stainless steel Ugly Tuff guides that features a new upgraded PVD coating that is proprietary to Ugly Stik. This makes the guides have increased wear resistance and prevents corrosion in the long run.
The grips of the GX2 rods have been changed to an extra durable rubberized X-pattern EVA handle for better grip even when wet or slimy. The reel seat of all the rods has been changed as well, now leaving the blank of the rod exposed for a better feel and increased sensitivity when fishing. Additionally along with these new added features and the cosmetic changes Ugly Stik has added alignment markings on the multi-piece models for easier assembling at a glance. But even with all these changes the classic Ugly Stik Clear Tip remains and so does the Ugly Stik warranty and price. These rods come in at $49.95 and come with a 10-year warranty. They should be available in stores this September.
