POTD: The Legendary Manurhin MR 73 Revolver
Einar Viking 12.09.24
This series of revolvers was developed specifically for the requirements of the French Gendarmerie and special service units of the French Police and Military. Like the French Special Forces GIGN (Groupe d’Intervention Gendarmerie Nationale), as shown here. The car in the feature image is an old Citroën CX, manufactured between 1974 to 1991. As you may note, the Manurhin is mounted on a bipod, resting on the roof of the CX.
From the GIGN caption, machine-translated from French:
“This week, the “new” GIGN operatives closed their year of training with the traditional day of awarding certificates. A day punctuated by the strong sequences and traditions that have represented the very essence of the GIGN for 50 years. It was also an opportunity to share a day with the former members and their families.”
Don’t try this at home, folks.
A few years ago, Beretta USA brought these revolvers stateside. Check them out here: https://www.beretta.com/en-us/firearms/by-gun-family/manurhin-revolvers
