Vermont Fish and Wildlife Seeks ‘Let’s Go Fishing’ Instructors
The ‘Let’s Go Fishing’ program empowers instructors to host community clinics for Vermonters of all ages. No expert fishing skills are required—just a passion for the sport. The workshop, running from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., covers teaching basic fishing clinics, Vermont’s fishing regulations, ethics, aquatic ecology, fisheries management, and habitat conservation. Instructors will also learn to lead specialized clinics, like ice fishing or species-specific sessions.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for fishing enthusiasts to share their love of the sport,” said educator Corey Hart. “It’s also a great way for educators to bring hands-on lessons about ecology and conservation into classrooms.”
The training is free, with all curriculum materials provided. Pre-registration is required, and participants must be 18 or older. Register via the Fish and Wildlife’s April Events calendar or email letsgofishing@vermont.gov. After completing the workshop and a background check, certified instructors gain access to program equipment and resources to run their own clinics. Fishing connects people to Vermont’s natural heritage. By becoming an instructor, you’ll help pass down this tradition while promoting conservation and outdoor engagement. Whether you’re a seasoned angler or a beginner, your enthusiasm can make a difference.
