Applications for Wisconsin Wolf Hunt Soar Past 7,000 Mark in First Week

Every day applications are coming in by the hundreds, if not thousands, for Wisconsin’s first wolf hunting season in decades.

Just last Friday, August 3, the department was already stunned by the large amount of permit applications. They had received 3,277 in the first two days.

By the morning of August 7, that number has more than doubled to 7,286 applications for hunting permits.

The department said 7,150 of the applications were from resident hunters and the other 136 from nonresidents. Interested sportsmen and womens have been able to apply for a permit since August 1.

The application period runs until August 31, 2012. To apply, there is a $10 fee. Applications may be purchased via Internet on the Online Licensing Center, at all authorized license agents, at DNR Service Centers or by calling toll-free 1-877-LICENSE (1-877-945-4236).
