Beta Boys Finish Well Everywhere

The Beta Factory team had a busy weekend with their team riders finishing well in two different events.

The first was Cody Webb taking fourth overall at the world famous Hells Gate Extreme Enduro held in Italy this past Saturday. The popular tuscany event has been noted as being one of the toughest on the planet and 2012 drove that statement home with the nighttime temperatures below freezing.

Webb explains this year’s race, “Hells Gate stood up to its name once again in 2012 for being the toughest extreme enduro. I qualified 4th in the morning enduro on my Factory 350 RR even after two big mistakes in the second special test. Luckily I made up time in the other 3 tests to begin the night race on the front line. After a 4th place start I quickly moved into third and followed the two leaders’ strong pace. I made a small mistake the first lap causing me to go down and break my handguard off and badly injured my thumb. I continued on in third for the next few laps by myself after that. When I finished the race late into the night, I thought I had received third since I had seen no other riders the rest of the day. Apparently another rider did not pit, while I came in for a gas stop and he passed me there causing me to think I was in podium contention. It was an amazing experience to be one of only 4 riders to make it to the top of Hells Gate and I can’t thank American Beta enough for giving me this opportunity. I hope to be back again next year battling up front for the win”.

On the Enduro front, Chris Bach finished round 2 of the AMA National Enduro series in 10th position overall bettering his first round by two spots. The Beta racer is adjusting to the tight woods and skinny handlebars well. The GNCC regular must also retrain his brain to go all out in the special tests vs pacing for a 3 hour GNCC race.

“The race went well overall, but i had a pretty tough time as well. I was struggling with the course at first, then had some crashes and issues with riders in front of me. Still made improvements over the first round, and look forward to continue building my skills and speed in the enduro series at round 3″. Bach explains.

Beta’s other Enduro/GNCC specialists Justin Sode also came out swinging in Georgia winning the highly competitive Open A class on his 350 RR. The 17 year old Ohio native is one to watch as his ability to muscle his way through the muddy conditions is beginning to show.

The youngster describes the race, ” The final test was the longest one of the day, 14.5 miles. I felt very good and confident with my Beta going into the last test. I knew I had a good day going but I did not want to blow it at the end of the day. So I put my head down and pushed till the end. At the end of the day I piloted my 350 RR to win Open A by over 5 minutes and  16 overall”.

Rounding out the weekend was 40 A rider Rodney Judson finishing a solid second place at the Georgia National Enduro. Judson, unlike the other Beta team riders prefers the 498 RR. The Ohio rider also finishes in the more tougher events.
