Beretta “Slim 9” Nano Featured in GUNS Magazine August Issue
OutdoorHub 06.22.12
The cover story in the August issue of GUNS Magazine reviews the latest 9mm pocket pistol from Beretta: the “Slim 9” Nano. This unique striker-fired, double-action-only pocket pistol withstood an extensive series of tests by GUNS contributing editor Massad Ayoob — who gave the Nano a ringing endorsement.
“The Beretta Nano joins a growing number of ‘slim-9s’ designed for concealed carry,” writes Ayoob. “It has the very useful feature of stand-off capability, good sights, a trigger you can live with and some other cool stuff. If you are in the market for a pistol of this genre, the Beretta Nano is definitely worth a look.”
In this month’s “Shotgunner” column, Holt Bodinson discusses the distinctive Saiga-12, an AK-style 12-gauge shotgun that is attracting a strong following from hunters and 3-gun shooters alike. Due to its AK-47 toughness, ease of loading and reasonable price, the Saiga-12 amounts to an ideal firearm for home defense — and Bodinson had nothing but good things to say about his Saiga-12.
“I enjoy my Saiga. It’s an outrageous shotgun. As is, it’s a neat collectible as a unique AK variant. It’s fun to shoot. It’s practical as a self-defense and hunting arm. There’s just nothing quite like the Saiga,” writes Bodinson.
The August issue of GUNS Magazine also features articles on debunking the myths surrounding Pronghorn Rifles, sniper rifles from the World War II era and 9mm Luger handloads. August also includes the debut of a new column, “Shooter’s Edge,” written by Dave Anderson and sponsored by Brownells.
