Umpqua’s New Spring Fly Fishing Packs/Bags Inspired by Outdoor Industry

Fly Anglers and Outdoor Designers/Manufacturers Join Forces to Create Fly-fishing Specific Waist-packs, Chest-pack, Backpack, Boat Bag and Wet/Dry Duffel

The rugged functionality of the backpacks, outerwear and tents you might find in Antarctica or on Everest are the inspiration behind Umpqua’s new line of fly fishing packs and bags for spring 2013.

Experienced fly anglers joined forces with designers and manufacturers who produce outdoor gear for companies such as Burton, Gregory, Mountain Hard Wear, and Osprey, to create a modern line of packs and bags for fly fishing anglers.

The new line of two waist-packs, a chest-pack, backpack, boat bag and wet/dry duffel all meet the 40-year-old company’s Umpqua Professional Guide (UPG) seal of approval and are named after fabled fishing holes on Oregon’s North Umpqua river.

The entire line for 2013 can be viewed at Umpqua.com.

“After committing three years of R & D, we’ve designed these from the ground up based upon the proven performance features that allow the world’s greatest explorers and adventurers to survive the elements,” said Jeff Fryhover, president.

“As such, we believe they offer exceptional comfort, functionality and value to the serious angler.”

Rugged outdoor industry influences include aluminum stay suspended back panels, snag-free zippers, light-color liners, stow-away shoulder straps, load adjusters, high-wear tarpaulin tool sheaths, and durable low-weight construction.

What’s more, the waist-packs and chest-packs integrate with backpacks, and there are numerous added features inspired by the outdoors such as “sticky” micro-textured zipper pulls, side D-rings, hydration compatibility, load adjusters, weatherproof pockets for cellphones, and waistbelt pockets for easy access to floatants or snacks.

Prices for packs and bags range from $99.99 to $199.99 sug. ret. Delivery to leading fly fishing specialty stores begins February 15.
