This Weekend, Northwestern Outdoors Radio Visits the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation

This weekend we head to the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation (CTUIR) near Pendleton, Oregon to talk about fish conservation, wildlife watching, outdoor recreation and a great place to stay while you are doing it!

Aaron Jackson with the CTUIR will tell you all about the Pacific Lamprey. It’s a fish that looks like an eel and it’s a species in decline in the Northwest that the tribes are working to bring back. John Bevis, a guide and interpreter at the Tamastslikt Cultural Institute, shares the “Wolves and Wild Lands” exhibit they have on display, featuring wolves from not only the NW, but from all over North America.

John also talks about wolves on the reservation and their historical significance to the tribes.

Finally, Tiah Degrofft invites you to stay at the Wildhorse Resort Casino, a fabulous destination at the base of the Blue Mountains, and has several suggestions for anglers, wildlife watchers and horseback riders who are looking for things to do in the area while staying here!
