Bowhunting with Bachman: The New Rage Hypodermic Trypan Broadhead

The Archery Trade Association (ATA) Show is one of my favorite events of the year. Why? Because all of the newest archery equipment is announced to the public. It’s always amazing to see the innovative products made by companies both big and small showcased throughout the show. This year, I actually had the privilege to put one of these new products to the test before the show began.
Rage has introduced the new Hypodermic Trypan, which offers a super-tough titanium ferrule and the thickest blades ever used on a Rage broadhead. The 2-inch cutting diameter leaves a huge entrance and exit wound, and the streamlined ferrule ensures incredible penetration. Rage also keyed the shock collar so it can be put on only one way – correctly.
All these great attributes looked good on paper, but I actually had the chance to test the new broadhead during a 2016 late-season whitetail hunt in South Dakota, where I connected with an ancient 9.5-year-old buck after nearly 20-days hunting. It’s proof that patience and persistence can pay off on the hunting side, and the Rage Hypodermic Trypan results speak for themselves on the blood trail on this old South Dakota brute.
