Easy and Lightweight Way To Make Coffee Outdoors – GSI Coffee Rocket

My husband knows I love coffee. I drink it every day and sometimes multiple times during the day. I don’t NEED coffee, but I just want it. Cause coffee is delicious. And we should all feel like we can conquer the world every day of our lives.
I’m also always on the lookout for compact and easy ways to make coffee while out and about. When off roading or camping, I still need to have my coffee!
Instant coffee is fine and will do in a pinch, but I really enjoy ground coffee.
In walks the GSI Coffee Rocket! It’s a small, compact, lightweight way to make coffee on the go.
I had to test it out so on a brisk 30 degree morning, I headed out to my patio and made some coffee outside.
Place your grounds into the blue part. I was able to get like 2 1/2 scoops of coffee grounds. I normally do just 2 scoops but wanted to see how much could fit in there.
Connect the blue piece to the funnel then fold out the legs on the blue part and place on top of your cup.
Pour water into the funnel and watch it drip!
That’s it. That’s all there is to it.
It’s a slow drip, which is nice. Many people love drip coffee and feel it’s superior to others. So if you’re one of those people, then this is the system for you! I love pour over, drip coffee, espresso, cold brew; any kind of coffee is good with me.
What’s neat about this setup is that it can collapse down onto itself to fit inside of a mug. Now, my husband did get me a mug along with the GSI Coffee Rocket, but the mug wasn’t exactly right. However, there are plenty of mugs that would be a great fit, just need to find the right one.
The way that it folds up, you could even put a ziploc bag of coffee grounds inside of the mug along with the coffee rocket, so it would all be a nice compact coffee-making “machine”.
Cleanup is easy, just clean out the coffee grounds from the blue container, let dry and you’re all set to pack it up for the next morning.
This is going to get a lot of use on our trips, even if it doesn’t fit perfectly in the cup I received for Christmas, I’m going to find one that it will fit.
At $11.95, the GSI Coffee Rocket is a great addition to your outdoor gear!
